Swiss based Novartis AG, is one of the largest and most widely respected healthcare companies in the World. The company operates in over 100 countries employing over 127,000 employees.

Their product range is extensive, having over 1.2 billion patents worldwide and including household names like Savlon and Nicotinell.

Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide (VHP) provides the highest level of reliable microbial control. Despite its reliability there are critical considerations for the application of VHP technology. Temperature and humidity play critical roles in the VHP process, and accurate monitoring of both is essential. Monitoring presents the greatest challenge, but the use of proper techniques and best practice ensures successful decontamination and sterilisation.

To ensure that the precise atmospheric conditions within the production area are met and maintained, Novartis installed a DryAir 4000VRFS which has the ability to control the relative humidity to less than 15%.

Gliston Confectionery

Based in Blackburn, Gliston Confectionery are part of the Scandinavian Raisio Group with leading brands such as Benecol and Honey Monster cereals. With over 100 years experience, Gliston are at the leading edge of health, nutrition and premium-impulse foods.

When making large volume products, the climatic conditions within a manufacturing plant can have a major influence on the product quality and the production output. Glistons problem was controlling the temperature on a chocolate coating line. A solution was required to allow a decrease in drying time and thereby increasing production.

The answer was the installation of a DryAir 5760 VRFS.

McBride Group

An extract from their Annual Report states “McBrides are Europe’s leading provider of private label household and personal care products, developing, producing and selling their products to leading retailers throughout Europe and beyond”.

The plant located in Barrow-in-Furness, manufactures a comprehensive selection of the company’s product range.

The production lines within the McBride plant were experiencing high humidity problems. A more constant atmospheric condition was required to ensure a continuous high quality output was maintained.

Following a series of meetings, Desiccant DryAir designed, manufactured and installed

  • A DryAir 300 VRFS
  • A DryAir 1200 VRFS

Both are now an integral part of McBrides production process producing constant controlled humidity where needed.

Armitt & Sons

Armitt are one of the most successful logistic providers in the North West of England. They provide expert logistic support to a diverse customer base within the UK and Overseas. Motor car manufacturers, who continually use large volumes of rolled steel products, the need to have material  supplied ‘just in time’ and to the required high standard is very important.

Ford, Vauxhall and Jaguar Land-Rover placed this critical operation at Armitt's base in Runcorn. The main warehouse contains over £10m of high quality steel destined for car production facilities in the North West.

The prevention of rust on high quality steel rolls is a major concern. To ensure that the materials are stored in an environment that will reduce this risk, Armitt's contacted Desiccant and jointly developed the specification that the building should be continuously kept at below 50% relative humidity.

Desiccant designed, manufactured and installed three DryAir 10,000 Vertical Rotary Face machines. The buildings are now constantly kept at the required less than 50% RH.
